On October 3, the BIS ART GALLERY will host the opening of the group exhibition «Compass of the Metamodernist».

Today’s world is a time of fluctuations, constant change, and instability. The picture of reality shifts in an instant; the pace of life accelerates to a point where it is difficult to keep up, and what was important yesterday may hold no significance today. In the midst of these fluctuations, universal values, sincerity, and the pursuit of truth take on new meaning. The current generation, weary of the deconstruction and nihilism of postmodernism, is embarking on a search for its own guideposts.

The primary tool in this search is the inner compass—a guide pointing towards the correct course. Compass of the metamodernist does not oscillate between poles but between extremes: pragmatism and idealism, seriousness and irony, indifference and passionate enthusiasm. These contrasts help maintain balance, guiding each individual in the right direction.

The exhibition presents works in which the search of artists of the metamodernist era is reflected. Some of these works interweave the worlds of reality and fantasy, striving to reveal the essence of familiar things. Others depart from conventional meanings to reconsider their perception of the surrounding world, while some translate global issues into the realm of humor. Each artist believes that the metamodernist’s inner compass will help them reach horizons that appear deceptively close yet infinitely distant.
