From January 29 to February 9, the BIS ART GALLERY hosts the collective exhibition «Native Streets of a foreign City». The exhibition presents works made in different techniques and conceptualizing the experience of living in a strange city.
Sometimes finding yourself in an unknown city you can see familiar scenes and stories, getting into which a person seems to be back on his native street. Sometimes, an insignificant detail on the facade or on the asphalt can momentarily transfer to another «dimension» close to the heart, awakening the warmest memory, warming the soul.
Artists interpret this story in different ways. For some, the habits and behavior of the people around them become familiar, for others, architecture and the environment become close and warm, and for some it is enough to see familiar logos or things that refer to distant memories. Someone draws inspiration from visual images — sunsets, shadows, and colors that evoke a sense of coziness and comfort.
Over time, many people find their favorite places, create new connections and rituals, turning someone else’s space into a familiar one. A new city is a challenge, a test of strength and a chance for growth, where the main thing is to give yourself time to feel at home.
