From March 27 to April 3, the BIS ART GALLERY will host Pavel Durasov’s personal exhibition «The Frozen Stream of Nonformism», which is a discussion about who a modern person is.
The German thinker Herbert Marcuse defined postmodern man as a one-dimensional being, a machine working for the benefit of capitalism. However, for metamodernism, man is multidimensional, deep, and full of hope.
The characters in Pavel Durasov’s paintings are not concrete people, but an abstract «human». Pavel calls his style conformism. Form is not important to him, space and depth become the main means of artistic expression.
For an artist, a person is more like a process and a space than a fixed point. This means that a single definition for a «multidimensional person» will never be enough.
